Review hails new Mercedes-Benz F-cell B-Class
January 25th, 2011
The new Mercedes-Benz F-cell B-Class is “up there with the best in the business”, according to one expert.
Writing for the Daily Telegraph, Andrew English observed that the arrival of the prototype F-Cell B-Class in Britain is “a tribute to the dogged determination of a generation of engineers”.
The new F-Cell B-Class is an extraordinarily complete vehicle, Mr English said, even down to the special instrumentation that indicates the recharging capacity in the 1.4kWh lithium-ion battery.
“The sandwich-floor construction of the B Class was originally designed for the A-Class as a means of packing the driveline under the floor to maximise passenger space,” he noted.
Mr English added that the new model boasts “lots of torque at low speed, pleasingly silent operation and swift mid-range acceleration”.
Some 200 Mercedes-Benz F-Cell B-Class cars will be on test in the US and Europe, Mr English concluded.
Mercedes-Benz is widely recognised as one of the most innovative automobile manufacturers in the world.
