Rosberg is certain that Schumacher will improve in 2011

December 17th, 2010 Mercedes GP PETRONAS driver Nico Rosberg has defended the performances of team-mate Michael Schumacher during the 2010 Formula One season.

Both Mercerdes GP PETRONAS racers endured frustrating seasons, with neither able to secure a race win.

However, seven-time world champion Schumacher incurred the brunt of the criticism, with some experts even suggesting he made a mistake in returning to the sport.

Rosberg, though, has come out in defence of his more illustrious team-mate, explaining that Schumacher experienced problems with the technical set-up of his car.

Speaking to Germany’s Auto Bild magazine, Rosberg added: “We have learned from each other this year and, for me, it was very interesting working with him.”

He continued: “I think the public has a false image of Michael. Of course, he tries to gain advantages, but this is quite normal and I’d do the same.”

Schumacher insisted recently that he expects to challenge for race victories in the 2011 Formula One season.
